Apple Grilled Cheese

Some people will argue that grilled cheese can only be bread and cheese, that anything more is a panini sandwich. To me, the lines of panini and grilled cheese aren’t so clean cut. I think you can doctor up a grilled cheese all you want and still call it a grilled cheese. So here it is my special apple grilled cheese sandwich. The dill is what makes it special and extra delicious.

RECIPE: Apple Grilled Cheese
Makes 2 Sandwiches

Cast Iron Pan
Cutting Board

French Bread Loaf
Extra Sharp Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese
Fuji Apples

1) Slice 4 slices of french bread made in the bread maker or any loaf you like. Slice apple, avoiding any bruises. Thinly slice cheddar cheese. IMG_1684
2) Melt a tablespoon of butter into the cast iron pan on medium low heat.
3) Layer bread, apples, cheese, sprinkle of dill, bread. Butter the outside of the bread slices.
4) Cook the bread low and slow until its brown and crispy.

  1. This is a great sandwich. Without the dill, it is known in New England as a Vermonter. Of course, then it uses Vermont cheddar!
